"The
only place that even remotely approximates
the Saratoga charm of yesteryear."
- NEW
YORK TIMES
The Adelphi Hotel
is a rare surviving High Victorian
Hotel Inn from the end of the 19th
century - when Saratoga Springs reigned
as America's "Queen of the Spa's." The
Hotel was constructed in 1877 during
the heyday of the national rage for "taking
the waters" at Saratoga.
Stepping
inside the Adelphi Hotel, the walls
of the large and grand lobby are
elaborately decorated with hand-painted
stencils. These were executed by
one of America's most honored contemporary
stencil masters. Immense fresh flower
arrangements are a special feature
of the lobby, as well as the public
spaces of the Hotel.
Beyond the stunning
reception area is a cafe lounge featuring
a 3-wall mural of an 1880's Saratoga
hotel courtyard. The cafe leads out
to a flower filled courtyard and
to the turn-of-the-century style
swimming pool.
The 39 guest
rooms are the best feature of all.
They are individually, and very elaborately
decorated - each one different and
unique. There are Victorian country
rooms. High Victorian Eastlake rooms,
Adirondack-style rooms, Arts & Crafts
rooms, French Provincial rooms, Folk
Art rooms, English Country House
rooms - even a stenciled Bohemian
peasant suite."
