Daniel Aferiat, CSW,
is a licensed psychotherapist with over 20
years of clinical experience. He received
his MSW from Columbia University in 1985
and completed his post-graduate training
at the New York School for Psychoanalytic
Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis in 1992.
He is a clinical consultant for Employee
Assistance Programs servicing companies such
as Morgan Stanley/Dean Witter; Time Warner,
Conde Nast, Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse/First
Boston. He has been a consultant for SRA,
a clinical consulting firm, working with
large investment banks. He has worked for
Robert Dorris and Associates providing clinical
services and management training for Fox
Television and MGM Motion pictures. He had
been on the staff of Mt. Sinai Medical Center
Traumatic Stress Studies program from 1995-2000,
where he was involved in developing models
for understanding and treating Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder. Following the terrorist
attack on September 11, 2001, he provided
clinical support for groups and individuals
at many financial institutions in New York.
Mr Aferiat has developed
a “hands on” approach to navigating
the complexities of getting close to someone
while holding onto your own power. He believes
that the more you are convinced you can take
care of yourself in a relationship, the more
willing you will be to take chances necessary
to let people know you are available.
